Determination of aflatoxin levels in Sudanese edible oils
Aflatoxin B 1 levels in sesame oil samples ranged from 0.2–0.8 μg/kg and were 0.6 μg/kg in groundnut oil samples. All aflatoxin contaminated samples are unrefined. This paper reports the findings of the first exploratory investigation on presence of aflatoxins in Sudanese edible oils collected from three states.
Determination of Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2 in Olive
Determination of Aflatoxins B 1, B 2, G 1, and G 2 in Olive Oil, Peanut Oil, and Sesame Oil was adopted as AOAC Official Method 2013.05. Edible oils, consumed worldwide, can be contaminated by aflatoxins and pose a hazard to public health. Regulatory limits for aflatoxins in edible oils has already established in many countries.
AFB 1 levels in oil samples ranged 0.14–2.72 µg kg −1 and AFB 2 ranged 0.15–0.36 µg kg −1, while lower levels of 0.01–0.02 µg kg −1 for AFG 1 were recorded. The paper is part of an on-going investigation of aflatoxin contamination in Chinese edible oils.
Photocatalytic detoxification of aflatoxins in Sudanese
A study on the photocatalytic detoxification of aflatoxins in Sudanese peanut oil was performed using titanium dioxide (TiO 2) that was immobilized on a glass support as the photocatalyst and a 500 W high-pressure lamp (with emitted UV of 920 W/m 2 and visible of 2000 W/m 2) as the light source. The study was performed on naturally contaminated peanut oil obtained from two different irrigation ...

A Rapid Analytical Method for Determination of Aflatoxins
This study has led to the successful development of a simple, reliable method for determination of aflatoxins in edible oils. The method should provide a basis for an intra- and inter-laboratory validated analytical method for analysis of aflatoxins in dietary supplements and cosmetics formulated with plant-derived oils.
The procedures used for the extraction and refining of edible vegetable oils can be effective in reducing aflatoxins, varying with the type of oil and method of oil refining. However, numerous studies have reported high incidence of aflatoxins contamination in edible oils worldwide.
