"Techno-Economic Modeling of Soybean Oil Extraction
In this work, techno-economic analysis (TEA) was applied to evaluate the cost and profits of soybean oil extraction with hexane every 10 years from 1980 to 2014. For increasing the profits of this process, the analysis considered main product, soybean oil, and all co-products as well.
During the transition to a low carbon economy, techno-economic-environmental analyses of industrial processes will have increasing relevance. Within this context, the replacement of hexane by ethanol (either hydrous or anhydrous) as solvent for soybean oil extraction is assessed.
Economic feasibility analysis of soybean oil production
With the demands of soybean oil increasing either in food or industrial applications, expansion plans are considered by many companies to increase production capacity. Techno-economic analysis is performed to evaluate the economic feasibility of soybean oil production by hexane extraction based on historical scenarios from 1980 to 2015.
Techno-Economic Modeling of Soybean Oil Extraction with Hexane from 1980 to 2014 Abstract Soybean is one of the main oil crop resources in the United States. It can be used as edible oil or biodiesel production. Additionally, the co-products (soybean meal, soybean hulls and gums) are able to be utilized in animal feeds and food additives.
