The palm oil industry generates biomass in the form of oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB), mesocarp fibre and palm kernel shell (Sumathi et al., 2008). A typical palm oil mill produced 69,000 dry ton OPEFB per year (Yoshizaki et al., 2013). Therefore the palm oil industry has the potential to produce clean renewable energy from oil palm biomass.

Abstract. Eucalyptus wood can be utilized as a biomass feedstock for conversion to bio-oil using a pyrolysis process. Eucalyptus wood samples were initially pyrolyzed on a laboratory-scale pyrolysis system at different values in the ranges of 300–800 °C and 0.050–0.300 L min −1 to determine the effects of operation temperature and N 2 flow rate, respectively, on the yields of products.
